This video inservice and consent/declination form are given to all existing and newly hired employees. The inservice walks the employees through what the Hepatitis B Vaccine process is and makes them aware that they will be offered the opportunity to receive the vaccine on an annual basis if previously refused. Policy Statement: The Company promotes the health and safety of all employees, as well as that of the clients and residents we serve. Our policies are compliant with federal (OSHA, CDC, CMS, DOL, FDA, etc.) regulations. This policy and inservice, along with the Bloodborne Pathogens, TB Awareness, Hepatitis B, Aerosol Transmissible Diseases (CA and MD), and Injury/Illness Incident Reporting Inservices are part of our overall Infection Prevention and Control Program. This policy and overview are used to teach employees how to prevent, identify, and report communicable diseases and infections, as well as how to prevent the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections through utilization of transmission-based precautions.   Description: This video inservice provides an overview of how to: (1) Prevent the spread of infection; (2) Investigate, control, and prevent infections in the facility; (3) Communicate the environmental and/or food services procedures that should be applied in the field; and (4) Maintain a record of incidents and corrective actions taken related to infections by reporting incidents through the proper facility chain of command. In addition to this program, it is important that all infection prevention and control practices reflect current Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. All newly hired and existing employees must also complete training found in our Bloodborne Pathogens and Handwashing, Hepatitis B, TB, PPE, Hazard Communication, Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls, Safety Data Sheets, and Workplace Violence, which make-up our OSHA Safety Training materials. It is our policy to endorse and respect the patient/resident's right to privacy and the protection and preservation of their dignity, individuality and independence. To do so, the Company follows the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) regulations and the Elder Justice Act (EJA). We prevent patient/resident abuse, neglect and exploitation through screening potential new hires through, among other things, pre-employment criminal background checks, reference checks where required by law, and, searches of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and Nurse’s Aide registry. This inservice, along with the Stop and Watch Inservice, is to train/educate all employees on the identification of and proper reporting and response for potential abuse, neglect, and exploitation incidents with the intent to prompt investigation and to ensure the protection of patients/residents in the facilities we serve. This inservice educates all new hires and current employees on Patients'/Residents' Rights, Resident/Patient Abuse and the obligation to report suspected crimes under the Federal Elder Justice Act (EJA) to applicable state agencies.
